Search ends after man goes missing at Black Rocks

Derby Mountain Rescue Team was called out on the evening of Saturday 22 August 2026 after a young man went missing at Black Rocks in Derbyshire.

The man had left his group of friends on the High Peak Trail to walk to the top of Black Rocks, with plans to meet them again at the main car park, the team said.

When he did not arrive, his friends searched the area themselves before contacting Derbyshire Police. Team members then began searching paths around the main crag as more resources arrived.

A short time later, one of the man's friends received a call from him confirming he was safe. The team said in a post on its website that he "had left the area and was on a bus heading home".

With his welfare confirmed, the team was stood down.

Derby Mountain Rescue Team covers the Peak District and describes itself as made up of unpaid volunteers who are on call every day of the year, according to its website.
