A walker was rescued on Saturday 17 October 2026 after falling a considerable distance in the Doctors Gate area of Bleaklow, Glossop Mountain Rescue Team said.

The man had fallen a considerable distance but, with the support of his friends, tried to continue off the hill, the team said. The group later decided the terrain was too difficult and called for mountain rescue.

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team said it was able to drive off road for part of the way towards the group before continuing on foot. Volunteers assessed the walker, gave pain relief and applied splints to his injuries.

The team then carried him off the hill and handed him to an ambulance crew for further medical assessment and care. "We wish the casualty a speedy recovery," the team said in a post on its website.
