Walker helped to safety near Thor's Cave
Derby Mountain Rescue Team stood down most of its volunteers after the walker reached safety with help from passers-by.
Derby Mountain Rescue Team was called to help a woman who had become stuck on steep ground near Thor's Cave on the afternoon of Wednesday 12 August 2026.
The team was called after reports of a female walker stuck on steep ground near the cave. By the time the first members reached the area, she had already got herself to safety with help from people nearby.
The team said in a post on its website that "it was established that she had been able to make her way to safety with the assistance of some passers-by."
The rest of the team was not needed and stood down, while those already there checked on her welfare.
She later walked back to Wetton with friends, where West Midlands Ambulance Service assessed her as a precaution.
