On Saturday the 15th of April, the police requested the assistance of Keswick MRT to check a rucksack which they have had reports on being abandoned in the Lake District.
The call came through at 8:30 am on Saturday morning and two team members along with their search dog set off.
The police had given the team the grid reference of where the bag had been spotted, which was on top of Ruddy Gill.
Keswick MRT said “The rucksack had been reported to the police by passing walkers the day before and the Police wanted to check if this was related to a walker who had been missing for several days.”
“On arrival at the given grid reference provided there was no sign of the rucksack. The team members broadened the search around the given grid ref but again could not find the rucksack. With agreement of the Police the team members were stood down and returned to base.”
In total 3 members of the team were used and the incident lasted 4 hours and 27 minutes.
It had been a busy 48 hours for the Keswick MRT team with two call outs the previous day, firstly to a woman who had in injured near Cat Gills and then a few hours later to another woman who got injured walking up a path towards Helvellyn.
