Fallen Climber Rescued at Stanage Edge by Edale Mountain Rescue Team

In a swift response to an emergency call, the Edale Mountain Rescue Team (EMRT) successfully carried out a rescue operation for a fallen climber at Stanage Edge on Saturday, 16th March 2024, at 14:18 hrs.

The operation was initiated following a request from Derbyshire Police, highlighting the critical collaboration between emergency services in ensuring the safety of outdoor enthusiasts.

Stanage Edge, a popular climbing destination known for its breathtaking views and challenging routes, became the scene of the incident that prompted immediate action from the skilled volunteers of the EMRT.

The climber, who had suffered injuries from a fall, received prompt medical attention from the rescue team at the site.

Utilising their expertise in mountain rescue operations, the EMRT team carefully packaged the injured climber in a stretcher, ensuring their stability for the evacuation process.

The climber was then carried off the rugged terrain of Stanage Edge to a waiting ambulance provided by the East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EMASNHSTrust).

The ambulance swiftly transported the climber to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield for further medical treatment.

The EMRT expressed their wishes for the climber’s speedy recovery, underscoring their commitment to providing life-saving assistance in the Peak District’s challenging environments.
