Broadcaster Kathryn Thomas is calling on people to join her for the 9th annual Barretstown Dublin Mountains Challenge on May 28th to raise funds for the children’s charity.
The event aims to support the life-changing therapeutic programmes delivered by Barretstown, which have benefitted 85,000 children to date. Speaking about the event, Thomas said, “The Dublin Mountains Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to experience the amazing beauty of the south Dublin range but most importantly support an extremely worthy charity, which has an incredible impact on the lives of children and their families affected by serious illness.”
The challenge offers two options, a 24km trail to Ticknock Park or a 42km route to Shankill, with a bus transfer back to Tallaght.
All funds raised will go directly to the delivery of Barretstown’s therapeutic programmes.
Thomas continued, “Sunday, May 28th is a chance to come together for a greater good, dust off our walking boots and go the distance to help press play for children living with serious illness.”
The Barretstown Dublin Mountains Challenge is a popular annual event that raises funds for the children’s charity by challenging participants to walk through the stunning south Dublin range.
This year’s challenge will take place on Sunday, May 28th, and the event’s ambassador, broadcaster Kathryn Thomas, is urging people to participate.
As an ambassador for Barretstown,
Thomas believes that the Dublin Mountains Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for people to experience the beauty of the Dublin Mountains while supporting a worthy cause that helps children and their families affected by serious illness.
She said, “On average, 18,000 children experience serious illness per year in Ireland, and it is critical that we have organisations such as Barretstown available to support children on their journey through a serious illness.”
Thomas further stated, “Fundraising events such as the Dublin Mountains Challenge are mission critical to this, with all funds raised going directly to the delivery of their therapeutic programmes.”
This year’s event, which is supported by Lucozade Sport, features two distances that cater to different fitness levels.
Participants can choose between a 24km trail from Sean Walsh Park to Ticknock Park or a 42km trail from Sean Walsh Park to Shankill.
The event is set to be a fun and challenging day out for all involved, and all funds raised will go towards supporting the life-changing therapeutic programmes delivered by Barretstown.
