Jess Clayton, the content manager at Travel Village Group, recently completed a blindfolded hike up Snowdon to raise funds for Guide Dogs. Clayton was accompanied by Guide Dogs UK trainer Yvonne Robinson for the 7.5km hike, which is known for its various obstacles and hazards.
Clayton, who is a keen hiker, took on the challenge as part of the agency group’s ongoing fundraising campaign for the charity. The team is supporting Callum Stoneman, the son of one of the group’s homeworkers Tracy, in his efforts to raise £10,000 for Guide Dogs after the death of his guide dog, Iggy. So far, they have raised just over £4,600, which is half of the targeted total.
The team has already taken part in a blindfolded walk along the Blackpool Promenade, and Clayton’s Mount Snowdon challenge was the latest effort in their fundraising campaign.
Clayton spoke about her experience, saying, “This has given me a greater understanding and appreciation of what it’s like to walk in someone else’s shoes. It was scary, exhilarating, humbling, and massively rewarding, in essence, everything a challenge should be.” Despite fresh snow on the summit and temperatures dropping to around minus 8C, Clayton and the team persevered and successfully completed the hike.
