Walker injured in fall at Crinkle Ghyll
A young man suffered a suspected ankle fracture and a cut to his thigh after falling in the Lake District.
A young man was rescued after falling at Crinkle Ghyll in the Lake District on Saturday 3 October 2026, Langdale Ambleside Mountain Rescue Team has said.
The team was called out at 11:00 after the man took a fall, sustaining a suspected ankle fracture and a cut to his thigh.
Team members treated him at the scene before evacuating him, which the team said involved "some difficulty".
A coastguard helicopter attempted to assist but could not do so because of the weather conditions, the team said.
Kendal Mountain Rescue Team assisted during the operation, which lasted six hours and involved 17 team members.

Staying safe
Mountain Rescue England and Wales advises anyone who gets into difficulty in the hills to dial 999 or 112 and ask for the police, then mountain rescue. It recommends fully charging a mobile phone before setting out, keeping calls short to save battery, and noting details such as location and the nature of any injuries before calling for help.
People should not change position after calling until contacted by the rescue team, it says. (mountain.rescue.org.uk)
