On April 30th, the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team received a call from the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team to help extract an injured woman from the moors above Middle Black Clough. The team quickly responded and worked together with the Glossop team to provide medical assistance to the injured woman.
According to the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team’s Facebook post, “Once on scene after meeting up with team members from Glossop, both team’s assisted the paramedics by treating the lady for a back injury before being packaged into a vacuum mattress and onto the stretcher.” The team’s prompt response and medical expertise helped to stabilise the woman’s injuries before transporting her to the hospital.
Due to the remote location of the casualty site, air assistance was requested. Luckily, an S92 helicopter from Humber Coastguard was in the area on a training exercise and was soon diverted to assist with the rescue. The helicopter transported the woman to the hospital, ensuring she received further medical care as quickly as possible.
