Teenager airlifted after ankle injury on Kinder Scout
A helicopter crew treated the teenager on the plateau before flying them to hospital.

A teenager was taken to hospital by helicopter after injuring an ankle in a fall on Kinder Scout on Wednesday 28 October 2026, Kinder Mountain Rescue Team said.
Kinder MRT was called at 2.25pm by Derbyshire Police to help the teenager, who had fallen about two metres on the Southern Edge path of Kinder Scout, according to the team. The casualty had been out walking with family and friends when the fall happened.
As hill parties were deploying, the team was told that Helimed had also been sent to the scene because of the location and the reported injuries. The helicopter crew reached the casualty ahead of the two Kinder hill parties.
The crew assessed and treated the teenager before they were loaded onto a stretcher and carried a short distance to the helicopter, which flew them onward to hospital, the team said.
The two hill parties checked on the casualty's family and friends before returning to base. "Everyone at KMRT wishes the casualty a swift recovery and hope they manage to get back out on the hill before to long," the team said in a post on its website.
