Cornwall rescue team helps evacuate Falmouth after bomb find

West Cornwall SRT supported police and other agencies during the evacuation of homes and premises in Falmouth after an unexploded bomb was found in the port.

West Cornwall Search and Rescue Team took part in a multi-agency operation to evacuate homes and other premises in Falmouth, Cornwall, after an unexploded bomb was discovered in the port, the team said in a post on its website published on Wednesday 30 September 2026.

Devon and Cornwall Police contacted West Cornwall SRT to ask for support with the evacuation after the bomb was found in Falmouth's port, the team said.

The team worked alongside other emergency services, council teams and charities during the operation. It described the response as "a large, multi-agency response, working alongside emergency services, council teams and fellow charities to support the operation and the local community".

The team thanked residents of Falmouth for their "understanding, patience and cooperation throughout the evacuation". It also thanked Rapid Relief Team UK for providing food and refreshments to those working on the operation.

The post did not give a date for when the evacuation took place.
