Walker rescued from Tryfan after losing route in the dark
A solo walker was stuck on Tryfan, in the Ogwen Valley in Eryri (Snowdonia), unable to continue in the dark on the descent.

Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation was called to Tryfan on Tuesday 6 October 2026 after a solo walker lost the route on the descent and was unable to continue in the dark.
The walker called for assistance after losing the route down Tryfan's North Ridge, the team said in a post on its website.
Five team members were sent out with rope rescue equipment to find the walker, who was located on foot.
The team said the walker "was accessed on foot and assisted back to the main footpath and down to the roadside." The call-out lasted three hours and three minutes and involved seven team members in total.

Staying safe
Mountain Rescue England and Wales advises walkers caught out in poor conditions or failing light to dial 999 or 112 and ask for the police, then mountain rescue. It also recommends keeping a phone fully charged before setting off, as signal coverage and battery life can be unreliable in the mountains. (mountain.rescue.org.uk)
