Hampshire search and rescue team called out by police

Hampshire Search and Rescue (HANTSAR) was called out by Hampshire Police, the team said in a post on X on Wednesday 7 October 2026. The post did not give details of the incident or when it took place.

HANTSAR confirmed it had been tasked by Hampshire Police, without giving further detail about the nature of the search.

The team said the call-out was its 71st of the year. "Callout 71 for the team in 2026," it said in the post.

It used the post to thank supporters, saying, "Your continued support keeps our team trained, equipped and operational," and pointed people to its website for information on how to help fund its work.

The team

Hampshire Search and Rescue is a voluntary organisation that works alongside police to search for vulnerable missing people across Hampshire, according to its website. It is one of several county based lowland search and rescue units in the UK, affiliated to Lowland Rescue, the umbrella body for such teams.
