Who we are

The Camping Fire is Britain's outdoor news site: camping and outdoor news, honest gear reviews and regional stories, written by people who actually pitch up. Britain is home turf and gets the depth, and the wider world is on our beat too, from destinations to industry news.

Our job is to keep Britain's campers in the know. We report the outdoors honestly, celebrate its places and people, and point every reader towards their next trip. If a closure, a price change, a storm warning or a new site affects where you pitch up next, we want you to hear it here first, and to hear it right.

Every story is tagged to the place it happened, so you can follow the news for your patch on our regions pages.

The Camping Fire was founded in 2020 and is based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

Our gear reviews cover our own family's products the same way they cover anyone else's, and a poor verdict gets published like any other.
